Workshop part 1
Workshop
This series, similar to the Home and Garden series, explores the themes of the everyday and domestic, the familiar and unfamiliar, museology, and the archive.
Ordinary objects used in the domestic environment are captured through staged photography. By focusing closely on these tools and isolating them against a black background, the images abstract the objects to the point of becoming unrecognisable. Items that are typically overlooked are re-presented in a way that encourages renewed attention. In doing so, the photographs shift the familiar into the realm of the unfamiliar.
Removed from their original context and placed in an environment of isolation, the tools invite speculation. This method of presentation echoes the practices of museums and archives—elevating overlooked objects and reframing them as treasured, significant, and worthy of contemplation.
